2013 Will Be A Lovely Year of Finishes

A few days ago I received an invitation to join a new flickr group called
A Lovely Year of Finishes 2013.

Shanna, who blogs at Fiber of All Sorts and Melissa from Sew Bittersweet Designs  are hosting. This is a group to encourage all participants to finish ONE project each month.  The project can be a UFO or it can be something new, and it is up to each participant to decide what she feels like working on and what"finish" means to her.

I joined the group and then panicked! 'What if I can't actually keep up?!!' Then I un-joined.  Last night I joined the group again, and this time it stuck!
I want to finish things in 2013!
There's nothing to lose, and finishes to gain! Nice incentives, too!  It's a sponsored group so prizes are up for grabs each month. January prizes include gift certificates and charm packs.

My calendar for January is jam-packed and my To Do List for the month is already an astonishing length, so I need a project that is quick to finish.  I've chosen a UFO, my Small Things mini quilt.
I started this project in early June of last year and worked on it pretty steadily until the dresden plate was assembled and appliquéd down and the embroidered portion was finished.  When I was ready to cut the embroidery into a circle and applique it I discovered I couldn't find that part of the project.  Over the next few months I've arranged, rearranged and rearranged my sewing things.  Periodically I'd find either the dresden plate or the embroidered portion of the project but never both at the same time.  Well I now have both parts in my hands so it is time to finish this up!

Will I manage to keep up all year long?  I have no idea, but I hope to!

Do YOU want to finish things in 2013?
You might want to check it out!

I joined a similar group last year, and while I didn't finish something every month, I got more done thatn I would have without it! Good Luck.

Staci SO happy you've joined. Small or big it's just a way to get things done. I really can't wait to see your mini quilt finished! It looks grand so far!

I printed that embroidery...does that count?!?!?! =) Yours is going to look lovely.

I did not join, simply because I don't know when or where I'll be doing anything and I don't honestly have UFO's. I only have USO's. That's Unstarted objects. =) I'm a finishers...or so I like to think. WE'll see how the year goes and I totally look forward to seeing your completions!

I would love to join your group, but I have a question. I am having a hip replacement on February 5th, and I need to make a walker bag before that. Could I use that as a project for the first month? After that it will be normal quilty things, as I'm not a sewer. Please e-mail me the answer at cdahlgren at live dot com. Thanks so much for your time, and I love the idea of this group! I'm not a great finisher.
